Young banana trees.

MD Nabunturan Agri Ventures, Inc. (MDNAVI), is one of the subsidiaries of the Marsman Drysdale Agribusiness Holdings, Inc. (MDAHI).  Like most of its sister companies, MDNAVI is engaged in the planting and cultivation of Cavendish bananas and caters to the markets in Japan, the Middle East and other fast growing markets in Asia.  It was registered in the Securities and Exchange Commission on 28 August 2000 bearing SEC Registration No:  A200011307.

The plantation is located in the Municipality of Nabunturan, the capital town of the Province of Compostela Valley and is a two-hour ride from Davao City.  Although the bulk of the areas leased are hemmed between the hills of Barangay Cabidianan, other areas acquired extend to the neighboring Barangays of Manat, Ogao, Anislagan, Sta. Maria and Antiquera.

The Management has been drawn to the site due to its accessibility and high potential owing to its favorable climatic conditions and high soil fertility.  The Manat River that cuts through the length of the plantation makes drainage easily accessible and the soil well – drained.

Land acquisition started in the first quarter of 2000 and development operations followed in the third quarter.  The first harvest and packing operations have been done on 05 July 2001 with one hundred twenty six (126) boxes packed of Cavendish bananas.  To date, 116 hectares have been planted.

The total manpower at present is one hundred eighty nine (189), with one hundred fifty-seven (157) Regular Rank and File and thirty-two (32) Casual employees, respectively.
